Brexit withdrawal agreement

The European Parliament and the United Kingdom (UK) have ratified the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, including a revised Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland.

From 11 pm on Friday, 31 January 2020 the UK is formally no longer a member of the European Union (EU). However, the Withdrawal Agreement provides for a transition period until 31 December 2020. During this period the UK will continue, for the purposes of the movement of goods, services, and people, as if it were a full EU Member State. The transition period may be extended by agreement beyond that date.

Irish businesses are strongly encouraged to prepare for Brexit. Please see Planning for Brexit - some essentials for guidance and advice on preparing for trade with the UK following the transition period.
