Revenue seizes smuggled alcohol and cigarettes at Dublin Port
On Friday (28/04/2017) Revenue Officers at Dublin Port seized beer, vodka and cigarettes with a retail value of around €3,800 when they stopped and searched a truck carrying mixed goods from Poland, for delivery to various locations in the State. The contraband was found concealed in compartments under the truck, which had arrived in Dublin Port via Holyhead.
Two Polish men aged in their 30’s were questioned and investigations are ongoing.
The seized goods represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €2,900 and are part of Revenue's on going operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of tobacco products and alcohol in the shadow economy.
