Revenue seizes alcohol, cash and puppies in Dublin and Wexford

On Saturday night (17/12/16) and Sunday morning (18/12/16) in a joint operation with the DSPCA, Revenue officers at Dublin Port seized 13 puppies of various breeds. In four separate seizures, a total of 13 puppies, all in the process of being transported to the UK without the proper documentation or vaccination records, were seized.

On Wednesday last, (14/12/16) Revenue officers from Dublin Port seized alcohol from a restaurant in South City Centre Dublin, which was trading without an excise Liquor Licence. Acting under Court warrant, Revenue officers entered the restaurant and removed beer, wine and spirits with an estimated retail value in excess of €7,500.The alcohol was seized under the provisions of section 125A of the Finance Act 2001, which provides for the forfeiture of alcohol products from unlicensed premises.

Earlier this month, on Tuesday 06/12/16, Revenue officers at Rosslare Port seized €9,400 in cash when they stopped and questioned two Romanian Nationals as they prepared to board the late evening ferry to Cherbourg in France. Revenue seized the cash, suspecting it to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and on Thursday 08/12/16 at Gorey District Court, Judge Gerard Haughton granted a three month detention order to allow Revenue to investigate further. These investigations are ongoing.
