Revenue seizes cigarettes worth €9,500 at Dublin Airport
Revenue officers at Dublin Airport today, (19/02/16), seized 19,000 cigarettes. The smuggled "Marlboro" brand cigarettes were uncovered when detector dog "Lottie" gave an indication on the suitcase of a Moldovan man who had arrived on a flight from Chisnau via Istanbul.
The contraband cigarettes had a retail value in excess of €9,500, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €7,000.
The man appeared today at the Criminal Courts of Justice (19/02/16) where Judge Walsh remanded him in custody to Clover Hill until Tuesday 23/02/2016.
