Revenue seizes 22,000 cigarettes at Dublin Airport
Yesterday (18/08/2016) Revenue officers seized 22,000 smuggled cigarettes, when a passenger arriving in Dublin from Sweden was stopped and questioned.
The 45 year old Lithuanian male was carrying the contraband cigarettes in his luggage. He was arrested and brought before Judge Grainne O'Neill, who remanded him in custody until next Tuesday (23/08/2016).
The smuggled Marlboro Gold cigarettes have an approximate retail value of €11,400, with an estimated potential loss to the Exchequer of around €9,100.
