Revenue seizes 18,800 smuggled cigarettes concealed in a car arriving at Rosslare Europort
On Saturday (13/02/16), at Rosslare Europort, Revenue officers seized 18,800 cigarettes when they stopped and searched an Irish registered car that disembarked a ferry from France.
The car was identified in routine profiling and the cigarettes, branded 'Ken', 'Marlboro', 'Marlboro Gold' and 'Rothmans', which originated in Moldova, were discovered concealed in the floor of the car.
A 27 year old man was interviewed and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
The value of the seized tobacco product is in excess of €9,900, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €8,600.
