Revenue seizes cigarettes and tobacco in Dublin

Today (12/04/2016), Revenue officers, assisted by an Garda Síochána, seized 4,600 cigarettes and 9.5 kg of tobacco following the search of a premises in the Moore Street area of Dublin. The search was part of an intelligence led operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of cigarettes and tobacco in the city.

The combined retail value of the cigarettes, branded "Excellence", "Mayfair", and "MG" and tobacco, branded "Flandria", is in excess of €7,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5,600.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
