Revenue seizes cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol in Dublin
Today (12/02/2015), at Dublin Port, Revenue officers seized a quantity of alcohol and 5,500 cigarettes, branded "Kent", "Kent Slims", "NZ", and "Compliment Slims", following a search of a Romanian registered bus that disembarked a ferry from Holyhead.
This morning, in a separate operation in the O’Connell Street area of Dublin, officers seized 3,700 cigarettes and 2.25 kg of tobacco.
The contraband cigarettes, branded "M1", "L&M Red", "MG" and "821", were seized along with the tobacco, branded "Flandria" and "Amber Leaf", as part of an intelligence led enforcement operation targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in Dublin City Centre.
The combined value of the seized tobacco and alcohol product is in excess of €6,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5,000.
Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
