Yesterday (03/11/2016), Revenue Officers working with detector dog Frankie at Dublin Airport seized 28,000 cigarettes when, as a result of routine profiling they stopped and searched two passengers who had arrived on a flight from Frankfurt. The passengers were questioned and a 24 year old Moldovan woman was arrested and brought before Dublin District Court this afternoon, where Judge Halpin remanded her in custody. She will appear in court again next Tuesday (08/11/16).
The cigarettes, branded "Kent" have a retail value in excess €15,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer in excess of €9,000.
