Revenue seizes cigarettes and tobacco in Dublin
When Revenue Officers searched two residential premises in the Dublin 7 area at 10 o'clock last night (03/05/16), they uncovered and seized almost 13,000 cigarettes and 8.8 kg of tobacco. The searches were part of an intelligence led operation targeting the illegal trade in cigarettes and tobacco on Moore Street in Dublin's City Centre.
The combined retail value of the cigarettes, branded 'Excellence', 'Marlboro', 'Jim', 'MG' and '169' and tobacco, branded 'Flandria', is approximately €11,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €8,700.
Investigations are ongoing and a file is being prepared for prosecution.
